Learning Environment

I have not used MOOs in class. Though I have experimented with these out of class, those experiences seemed to produce shallow, rapid-fire student responses rather than the thoughtful, supported discussion I was looking for. I think MOOs are most successful with experienced users of electronic media, who have learned how to combine substantive thinking with impromptu writing (not an easy combination for inexperienced students).
