I study the politics of economic reform. My research attempts to provide political explanations as to why some governments are able to enact significant administrative reforms while others are not. My research includes the comparative analysis of policymaking, implementation, and public management in developing countries, with particular reference to Latin America.

My teaching experience includes courses on the following topics:  The political economy of international finance and monetary policy, politics of economic reform in developing countries, foreign aid, labor and trade relations, Latin American studies and the political economy of Brazil.

I received my Ph.D. and M.A. in Political Science from U.C.L.A. and my B.A. in Communication Studies from the State University of Rio de Janeiro (U.E.R.J).
