I looked back at the screen door and then laughed too but I was getting freaked out by the whole conversation. What the hell. The cooler was only a few feet away from me so I threw my empty can in.

"Nah, it's not like that," Russ said. "She's cool. I just sometimes wish I had my own place. Especially now that Luann is around all the time. Hey, I even sound like I'm married. Maybe I should just give in. As usual, it's inevitable."

"Nothing is inevitable. Unless, you know, she was pregnant or something . . . " Joe said, and grinned.
